Clean an acrylic display case by checking the surface first, then using a gentle method that suits that material. A clear panel, printed backing, base and decorative insert may need different care. Keep the instructions supplied with your exact display beside you before you begin.
The routine below is for ordinary, uncoated acrylic panels. It is not a method for cleaning LEGO® bricks, removing scratches or disinfecting a display. A good result is a clear view with the model and the surrounding parts undisturbed.
Set up before touching the panel
Decide whether you are cleaning only an outside surface or need to access the interior. For an outside fingerprint, opening the whole display may add unnecessary handling. For interior work, first follow the case's opening instructions and prepare a clean place for any removable parts.
Have a clean, soft cloth and clean water ready. Keep one cloth for the display instead of reusing one that has cleaned a desk or kitchen surface. Put the cloth down somewhere clean between passes. A small tray for loose fittings helps keep them away from the model and the floor.
Use a gentle panel-cleaning routine
Acrylic manufacturer ACRYLITE recommends mild soap or detergent with lukewarm water, a clean soft cloth and light pressure for its ordinary acrylic sheet. It advises rinsing with clean water and blotting dry with a damp cloth or chamois. It also cautions that dry or gritty cloths can scratch the surface.
- Check the case instructions and identify any printed, coated or bonded areas before starting.
- For suitable plain acrylic, use the mild cleaning method above with light pressure.
- Keep the method confined to the appropriate panel; do not soak an assembled display or its backdrop.
- Inspect the result before reassembling the display according to its instructions.
That manufacturer reference explains general acrylic care; it does not identify the acrylic brand or finish used in a CubeBuff product.
Avoid guessing with stronger cleaners
The same ACRYLITE guidance advises against window-cleaning sprays, scouring compounds and solvents including acetone and alcohol for ordinary sheet. Do not treat a cleaner's glass-safe label as approval for your display. A product intended for another acrylic grade or coating may have different instructions.
If a mark remains, pause and identify it. Record whether it was present before cleaning, which surface it affects and which product has already touched it. A photo in normal room light and another from an angle can make a support enquiry much clearer than repeated attempts with stronger chemicals.
Keep printed backgrounds out of the experiment
A scenic backdrop is part of the composition, so treat its care as a separate question. Do not assume a panel-cleaning instruction also applies to printed artwork, adhesive graphics or a decorative base. Check which side is printed and the care instructions for that exact component.
If you cannot identify the surface, send the product link and a close photo to info@cubebuff.com. Include the selected background option. That gives us a useful starting point for checking the right care information.
Make the next clean easier
Once the display is back in place, check that you can reach the exterior without leaning over another model. Keep a note of the cleaning method you used and store the dedicated cloth clean. Clean when the view needs attention rather than treating frequent polishing as a requirement.
For a new display location, use the shelf measurement guide to plan access as well as fit. If you are still choosing the visual style, compare clear and printed backgrounds before ordering.
