LEGO DeLorean Display Guide: 10300 vs 77256

LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine 10300 viewed from above in a clear display with a movie backdrop

Two LEGO® Time Machines can share a shelf without sharing a display case. If you are looking for a LEGO DeLorean display case, start with the number on your instructions: 10300 is the larger Icons model, while 77256 is the Speed Champions version. Choose the matching display first, then plan the movie configuration and viewing position you want.

CubeBuff has separate product pages for the 10300 Time Machine display and the 77256 Time Machine display. Use those numbers when comparing options; “Back to the Future” alone does not identify the right enclosure.

Identify your Time Machine before comparing cases

Check the box, instruction booklet or saved building instructions. The set number is more reliable than a photograph, especially when two listings show the same silver car, familiar characters and movie artwork.

Open the 77256 display listing. Think about how the compact model will read at the front of a desk or among other small vehicles.

If you own another LEGO DeLorean, use the set-number guide before selecting either product. A shared car name does not establish compatibility.

Choose the movie version you want to display

For 10300, LEGO describes three movie configurations, opening gull-wing doors and wheels that fold for flight mode. Decide which version you enjoy looking at before measuring the arrangement. A raised door or a projecting movie accessory changes the space you need around the car.

77256 has two movie configurations: the first-film version with a lightning rod, and a flying version inspired by the second film. Include the selected attachments and wheel position in your fit check. The smaller set still needs room around its outermost details.

Keep one reference photo of the exact version you intend to display. That gives you something specific to compare with the product gallery or share when asking about fit. A photo of a closed car will not answer a question about displaying it with doors raised.

Give each model a useful viewing position

For 10300, try the car in two directions on its intended surface. From one side, the long body profile may be the main attraction; from a slightly elevated angle, you may notice more of the cabin and rear equipment. Choose from your normal seat or standing position, rather than from the angle that is easiest to photograph.

For 77256, check whether nearby objects hide the roofline or rear details. Bringing the display visually forward, with a clear view from your chair, can make a compact model easier to enjoy than placing it behind larger vehicles. Keep the complete case supported on the furniture.

If you display both versions, let them read as two separate builds. For example, you could give 10300 the main movie-car position and place 77256 with your smaller vehicles. This keeps their different proportions understandable without making the smaller car compete directly with the larger one.

Check the complete arrangement, including the figures

Place the figures and any information plaque where you want them before measuring. A figure standing beside a door needs its own space; moving it to the front changes the depth of the arrangement. Check the whole composition, not just the car's wheels.

  1. Confirm the set number and chosen movie configuration.
  2. Measure the finished arrangement at its longest, widest and highest points.
  3. Compare that arrangement with the selected display's verified usable interior.
  4. Check the finished case exterior against the furniture, including room to open or remove the cover as instructed.

The product photographs show particular arrangements. Confirm the selected background and supplied display components on the relevant listing, especially if you want to reproduce a pose that uses a support. For the furniture check, use the shelf measurement guide.

Choose the display for the Time Machine you own

Once the number and arrangement are clear, compare the options on the matching product page. If a measurement you need is missing, email info@cubebuff.com with that product link and your arrangement photo. The display product does not include the LEGO model.
