How to Wall Mount a Display Case: Check the Whole Support System

Mount the finished case: Wall · fixing · bracket · enclosure. Illustration, not to scale.

To wall mount a display case, use a case designed for wall installation and its exact mounting instructions. The support system includes the enclosure, its bracket or hanging points, the wall fixings and the wall itself. A freestanding acrylic box does not become a wall case simply because holes can be drilled in it.

This preparation guide does not assign a load rating or substitute one brand’s bracket for another. An open display frame and an enclosed wall case are different products, with different loads and access needs.

1. Identify the case and obtain its instructions

Record the brand, product number, configuration and intended orientation. Confirm which parts are structural and which panels are removed for access. Use the supplied instructions or the exact product page. For example, Wicked Brick directs owners to product-specific assembly information; a general video does not establish the bracket for every model.

Before proceeding, you should know where the case hangs, how it is prevented from shifting and how the model is retained. If the mounting method is absent or unclear, obtain it from the seller before choosing hardware.

2. Determine the wall and the complete load

Identify the actual wall construction at the installation point, including its condition. Select fixings using the fixing maker’s instructions for that substrate and the bracket arrangement. The complete load includes the case, models, shelves, accessories and lighting equipment supported by it.

Do not add individual anchor ratings to invent a system capacity. Fixing spacing, load direction, the bracket and the wall can govern the result. If you cannot establish the wall or its suitable fixing method, use a competent installer.

3. Check the viewing position and opening route

Use a paper outline to check the position before making holes. Include the full outside dimensions, nearby furniture and room for the front, top or cover to open. A case that fits between two shelves may still be impossible to service there.

Check that the finished location will not make people brush against the enclosure as they pass. Plan how you will lift the empty case into position and remove it later without using a fragile clear panel as a handle.

4. Install the specified support before loading

Follow the actual bracket and fixing instructions for marking, drilling, spacing and engagement. Check for concealed services using a suitable method before drilling. Do not enlarge a slot, substitute a different screw head or tighten a connector harder to compensate for a poor fit.

Fit the empty case in the instructed sequence. Verify that the hanging points engage as intended and any retaining features are in place. The case should not need to be held level by a loaded model or by pressure against an adjacent surface.

5. Add the display only after installation checks

Place the model using its specified support points, then close the enclosure and check that access parts remain clear. Retain the mounting instructions and record the fixings used. Recheck the system if the case is moved, the load changes or any connection becomes loose.

Can I adapt a desktop case?

That is a different design project. Start with the DIY wall-case design guide and have its load path confirmed. Do not treat this installation workflow as approval to modify an existing tabletop box.

For CubeBuff’s Sauron’s Helmet 11373, the wall-mounted enclosure is a separate product from the desktop case. For a multi-car project, compare the documented enclosed products in the Speed Champions wall-case specification review. Match the exact format and obtain its supplied mounting information before installation. Our contact page is the place to resolve a missing instruction.
